RED

Red is a retelling of the old tale Little Red Riding Hood with lots of twists, turns, and a pinch of horror. Set in Medieval France, the retelling uses the stories of witch hunts and executions to underline the power of love and friendship.

The main female, little Red, is a gifted young witch who seeks revenge for her wrongfully executed mother. Every year, on the anniversary of her mother's death, she goes back to the village to lure a child into the depths of the enchanted forest where no one has ever returned. As the villagers took away whom she loved most, she ought to do the same to them.

Different from children of the same age, Red is meant to look more mature with a sleek hairdo and sophisticated costume. The fact that she is the only child of a wealthy family also affects her overall appearance. Nonetheless, she's still a kid. There is a question of finding the right amount of styling to preserve her youth but still express her personality. The above sketches are the rough and clean line version of the final design.
